This weekend was a wash and I could not get real sewing time in due to the fact that I was working on my septic with my husband for three days.  We tackled the job ourselves and boy what a job it was!  All in all I did finish attaching the binding to my beautiful angel quilt as well as finished the labels on the 2 children's quilts I have been working on for my great nephews. I can finally send them off to them.  It is a surprise so I can't wait for them to receive them.  I will post pictures hopefully this week of my completions!  In the meantime I purchased a antique Singer sewing machine dating back to 1895 on ebay for a whopping $38 and it works! I was sew excited when I received it yesterday I immediately wanted to share with my fellow bloggers!  All that is missing is the back plate cover which is easily available for purchase on ebay.

Hello and Happy Monday and back to work again!  Sew before I left work on Friday I made a TO DO LIST for my quilting projects that I wanted to finish.  Low and behold I only got to 2 of the 5 things on that list.  I finally finished my rooster block which I have proudly hanging on my kitchen wall.  I love the way it came out and I hope you do to!  I also made corner pockets on the back for hanging which is a technique I found on the internet.  I have to say I really love it better than the usual sleeve.  I think it hangs alot nicer and flat to the wall.  It's great because you just sew them right in while sewing your binding on.  I will have to post a small tutorial on this method because if you haven't tried it I am sure you will love it when you do.

the binding for hanging, and of course there is

 another in the right corner.  Now all I did was

insert a rod and hang it right on the wall and it lays nice and flat.

this to a special little boy in the family.

Father's Day Gift Giveaway - June 16th

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Hope everyone had a productive weekend quilting!  I myself did not work on what I had intended to work on but I did finish a whole quilt top for a friends 11 year old daughter who was diagnosed with Leukemia in February 2013.  After she told me that she had contacted 2 quilt charities requesting a quilt for her daughter and was denied I was dumbfounded.  So I asked her what did her daughter like and she told me butterflies and the color purple.  Well,  I immediately went home and searched through my stash  and I happen to have butterfly fabric and purple fabric.  So along with some other pastel colors I simply cut 8.5 inch squares and sewed 5 rows of 4 inch blocks and added a 4 inch border using the butterfly fabric.  I will finish sandwiching and quilting it this weekend (hopefully) using the same butterfly fabric for the back.  I can't wait to give it to her.   I hope she will like it.  It measures 39 x 55.5.  I figure she can take it with her to the hospital on the days she has chemo treatment.  I just can't believe she was denied a quilt!  Anyway I took a pic of the quilt top but it came out way too dark so as soon as I take a better pic I will share with everyone.  But below is a sneak peak of the fabric I used.

Tumbler Quilt in Progress

Happy Thursday!  It's finally going to feel like late Spring early summer here in NY with a high expected of 88 degrees. NY'ers are saying "well it's about time" especially after having a cold and wet Memorial Day weekend.  Last night I finished sewing the 10" tumblers I am making into a quilt for one of my great nephews.  I just love the fabric!  I purchased a Layer Cake which had 25, 10" blocks.  The fabric name is Peak hour by Kellie Wulfsohn for Riley Blake.  I just love the colors and the tumbler quilts are one of my favorites to make because they go together sew quickly and easily and they look great.  This is however, the first time I am making 10" tumblers.  The 10" tumbler ruler is great because there is very minimal waste of fabric and the precuts in the Layer Cake sure does make things go even faster!  I now have to go in search of matching fabric for the borders and backing. Hmmm what color border should I add?  Oh gee I am forced to go buy fabric. :)  I just wanted to share what I was working on.  One of my favorite things about quilting is all the eye candy there is to see and the best part is it is all fat free and sugar free!! Just seems like a win win situation, wouldn't you all agree?...lol
