Happy New Year!  Hope everyone has recovered from all the holiday chaos.  I have started 2016 with a bang!  I have already finished 3 UFO's, 1 commissioned quilt and made a quilt top with jelly roll strips leftover from another project which will be a wallhanging or table topper.  Hopefully my pics will inspire others to dig deep into those bins and pull out a UFO or two to finish off.

I received my autographed copy of Kaffe Fassett’s new book Heritage Quilts and I am fascinated and thoroughly enjoying the pictures and the readings. As I turn the pages and see the bright array of colors I can feel myself getting happy and excited. It is a strange feeling I have never felt before by just looking at pictures. Now that’s powerful stuff!! In the gallery of quilts there are 15 historic quilts spanning three centuries! Each historic quilt has the dates of origination as well as interesting information about each quilt. Kaffe Fasset takes those quilts and interprets them in a contemporary fashion by using his wonderful fabric collection giving the quilts a whole new life! It truly is amazing the transformation each quilt takes yet the original beauty is still captured. He also includes patterns for each quilt!

Helloooooo Everyone!  I know its been several months since I last blogged but I promise I will try to blog more often.  I am excited to share my long arm quilt retreat experience I had 2 weekends ago.  It was a weekend retreat and I got to play with the Handi Quilter Avante which is the long arm machine I want to purchase.  I had so much fun learning new things and meeting other quilters.  I was especially excited meeting the one and only Debby Brown!  Her quilting is absolutely STUNNING!! She is my quilting Goddess!  Here are a few pics from the retreat!

I made a baby quilt for a co-workers new grand baby!  I was told the nursery colors were yellow and gray.  I made her this as a surprise and it turned out the colors I picked is a perfect match to her nursery.  Who knew?  I feel psychic!

NY has been getting slammed with extremely cold weather and lot and lots of snow.  I have had to miss work but that gave me some time to sew sew sew!!  I finished Quilter's Candy Shop Quilt Along January Hearts project and I am very happy with it.  I embroidered it with my Singer Quintet and used my Pfaff CV to do decorative stitching.  To finish it off I embellished it with a few flower buttons!  I think it turned out pretty cute.
